Sexual Harassment

Sexual Harassment, Employers from a policy perspective will not tolerate any form of harassment.

It is illegal and against the policies of most companies regarding any employee, supervisor or non-supervisory male or female, to harass another employee by:

Making unwelcome advances or requests for favors or other verbal or physical conduct of a personal nature as a condition of an employee’s continued employment;

Making submissions to or rejections of such conduct the basis for employment decisions affecting the employee;

Creating an intimidating, hostile or offensive working environment by such conduct:

flirtations, touching, advances, or propositions;

Verbal abuse of a personal nature;

Graphic or suggestive comments about an individual’s or body

flirtatious degrading words to describe an individual and

To display in the work place of any suggestive objects or pictures, and including nude photographs.

Any employee who believes he or she has been the subject of harassment should report the alleged act immediately to the employee’s supervisor or a higher echelon in cases where the supervisor’s conduct is in question and if the higher echelon employee conduct is question then the matter should be referred to Human Resources. If the Human Resources is the subject of the investigation then the matter should be referred to the President and if the President conduct is being investigated then the matter should be referred to the Board of Director’s. Employee shall not be retaliated against because for making a complaint. Any employee, supervisor or manager who, after a thorough investigation, is found to have engaged in harassment of another employee will be subject to appropriate disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Sexual harassment is identical to racism in that policies that address punishment and a process for an employee to grieve and protect the lively hood of the employee will not remedy the problem. Policies and legislation will not eliminate the cultural causes of harassment. Corporate along with all of Society must bring about change that confront this problem head on such as Societal Planning. Government is only needed to invoke penalties.
